SEVEN TECHNICAL UNIVERSITIES TO SIGN COOPERATION AGREEMENT ON TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER AND COMMUNITY SERVICE

On the morning of March 31, 2023, in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh province, a group of 7 technical universities (Group "G7") including Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Danang University of Science and Technology (University of Danang), University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), University of Transport, University of Mining and Geology, University of Water Resources and Hanoi University of Civil Engineering together signed the cooperation agreement in technology transfer and community service.

Attending the signing ceremony, there were Mr. Lam Hai Giang - Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy - Director of Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education and Training; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung - Deputy Director of the Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education and Training and leaders of 7 technical universities; representatives of the Project Management Boards, the Sub-department of Irrigation, the Company exploiting the irrigation works, the Construction JSC 47 of Binh Dinh province.

At the ceremony, 7 schools agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in technology transfer and community service. In particular, the MoU mentions focusing on proposing to order research topics, interdisciplinary, inter-field and inter-university science and technology tasks; Establishing interdisciplinary and inter-university expert groups, setting up experimental projects, transferring scientific and technical advances, etc; Introducing capable organizations, research groups and individuals to participate in science and technology tasks of ministries, branches and localities, etc; Build an industrial network, improve technology transfer capacity; Share international networks, building technology transfer programs from abroad.

This is the 6th time that the G7 group together has signed a memorandum of cooperation. Previously, the G7 group signed several contracts such as Cooperation in developing engineer training programs (Da Nang, June 2020); Comprehensive cooperation in enrollment, training, scientific research and technology transfer, quality assurance and accreditation, communication (Hanoi, January 2021); Communication cooperation (Ho Chi Minh City, April 2021); Cooperation on science, technology and innovation (Sapa, September 2022); Cooperation in international accreditation and quality assurance (Da Lat, December 2022).

At the ceremony, leaders of 7 technical universities delivered speeches about the potential of science and technology, the technology transfer of their units and the prospects of cooperation in this field among G7’s members. At the same time, they committed to implementing the pilot project in policy development. It helps to create incentives for commercialization, applying research results and intellectual property into production and business, promoting the startup ecosystem, and creatively solving problems from businesses and localities.

The Organizing Committee expects this cooperation to promote the strengths of each school and further promote the application and transfer of technology to serve the community, contributing to socio-economic development, adaptation to climate change, and preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in the locality. Thereby, it enhances the role and contribution of intellectuals, scientists, and teachers of the G7 group in the innovation, creation, transfer, and application of technology to enrich our homeland.
